Tap-to-pay continues to grow in popularity
Tap-to-pay, or touch-to-pay, is an easy-to-use contactless payment form that allows customers to pay simply by tapping their card, smartphone, or smartwatch to a card reader. It’s a fast payment method that has increasingly grown in popularity! According to Mastercard, in 2023, contactless payments accounted for more than two in every three in-person transactions globally, up from one in three prior to the pandemic.

Younger generations prefer contactless payments
According to this research, individuals born between 1997 and 2021, also known as Gen Z, prefer tap-to-pay methods more than any other generation. In fact, this survey also found that Gen Z is twice as likely to completely delay a purchase if their preferred payment method isn’t an option.
