It’s more important than ever to support the local businesses we love. When you Shop Small® this holiday season – and all year long – you can help create a big impact. MySchoolBucks is proud to partner with American Express this year to help champion small businesses nationwide and celebrate our local communities today and everyday.

Here are a few ways you can Shop Small at the end of the year:

Participate in Small Business Saturday®
Shop Small Business Saturday on November 28! Bring your holiday shopping to local storefronts and join us as we support small business nationwide on Small Business Saturday. Not sure about shopping in person? Reach out to your favorite local business’ or visit their website to find out if they are offering any online shopping options or customer events.

Grab meals at family-owned restaurants
Whether you’re dining in or taking out, support your favorite family-owned food joint and grab a meal out. Or, consider purchasing a gift card to give as a present during the holidays.

Visit your community farmer's market
Take a trip to your local farmer's market to pick up fresh produce for holiday dinners. Have a foodie on your holiday gift list? The farmer's market can also be a great place to pick up homemade jams, jellies, or baked goods!

Support your student’s school
Many schools collect donations or host fundraisers, online or in-person, during the holiday season. Consider giving back to your student’s district or your school’s parent organization.

Get gifts from crafters and artisans in your area
Looking for gift ideas? Something handmade is always a great choice! Checkout local artisans or crafters to buy a unique present for family and friends on your holiday list.

Order holiday cards from a local print shop
Instead of ordering cards from larger vendors, check with a local printer to get your holiday cards printed and ready to send. Bonus points if you also have a local photographer take your seasonal family photos!

Purchase baked goods from a family-owned bakery
Cookies, cakes, pies - pick up some delicious sweets from a local bakery for holiday get togethers or send a special treat as a delivery to a friend.

Donate to a community-based charity or organization
What better time to give back to your community than during the holidays. Consider donating to a local charity or community group as they raise funds for those most in need.
